Hebrews 5:1-14

(Hebrews 5:1-14)

For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmityAnd by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.  As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.  For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.  For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

The book of Hebrews can be divided into two parts. Who is Jesus from chapters 1 to 10:18 of all 13? The doctrinal part is recorded from 10:19 to the last 13:25 as words of practical counsel to our lives in believing in Jesus. Among the words of that counsel is Hebrews 11, also called Faith. Thus, the Hebrews is usually called a letter of faith, a letter of counsel. In particular, the question of who is Jesus in the first half of Hebrews is focused on the aspects of Jesus Christ's superiority and excellence to the Hebrews at that time, and to those who live today.

 Among them, 4:14 to 7:18 is an article demonstrating the superiority of Jesus as the high priest, compared to the Levitical priests, while 5:1-10 is further narrowed to Aaron's high priesthood and Christ By comparing the high priesthoods of Jesus in a cross-contrast structure, each one-to-one, it clearly shows the superiority of Jesus Christ as high priest.

The descendants of Aaron's high priests, who were compared with Jesus, are essentially human beings who are chosen and appointed among people, and are in charge of the atoning sacrifice. However, they were unable to shake off their imperfections as high priests. It is the weakness and the limitation of having to offer a sacrifice of atonement for yourself because it cannot solve your sin. Also, there had to be a call. Of course, the subject of this calling is God. Therefore, under the sovereignty of God, they were responsible for receiving the high priesthood as God's calling and carrying out the high priesthood according to the will of God.

Subsequently, in verses 5-10, the book of Hebrews explains the qualifications of the high priest mentioned above to Jesus. The first is that Jesus, like Aaron's descendants, did not receive the glory of himself as a high priest by exalting himself, but by being appointed high priest by God. The second is that he was a human body, but he was a perfect man unlike the high priest, so he can lead us all to eternal salvation.

Third, Jesus is the High Priest who followed the Melchizedek order. The line here is that Jesus Christ was appointed a priest along the line of Melchizedek. This is the part that reveals Jesus' supremacy, which is clearly different from that of a human high priest. Why does Hebrews describe Jesus Christ compared to the high priests of Aaron's descendants, as the Jews know? It was because Jewish Christians did not escape from the bonds of ethnic religions and Judaism, and did not know who Jesus Christ was. Thus, the book of Hebrews clearly reveals this reality by quoting the Old Testament words familiar to them, and reproves the spiritual condition of the Hebrews at that time through verses 11-14.Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

Melchizedek is a character that appears only once in the Bible. He is the King of Peace, a figure before the law was promulgated, and a type of figure that symbolized the perfection of the priesthood of Christ. In particular, shortly after the statement that he came out to meet Abraham with bread and wine, the Bible testifies that he was the high priest of God (Gen. 14:18). The reporter of Hebrews has a lot to say about such a mysterious character, but he is reluctant to speak any further. The reason is that people's ears are dull. Therefore, no matter how the Bible tells them, they cannot be heard in their spiritual state.

The Bible reveals more specific facts to those who are so deaf. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. The Bible rebukes them as spiritual children.

Hebrews belongs to the overcomer. Peter, James, and John witnessed the event on the Mount of Change. The transformed figure of Jesus is that of the Second Coming. Moses and Elijah were talking about Jesus' death. Peter built three tabernacles here, and Moses and Elijah said that they should not return to heaven and live together. This is a form of spiritual selfishness. Spiritual selfishness accompanies the pursuit of the gift. Today we see many meetings of spiritual selfishness that God is angry with.

After raising Lazarus who had died, Jesus, like Melchizedek, said to his disciples, "I want to eat the Passover food," with bread and wine. The word Melchizedek means "the king of righteousness." Jesus said, "This cup is a new covenant to be built with my blood." Jesus is speaking as the King of Righteousness. The key words in Hebrews are the New Covenant and Melchizedek.

Jesus is the great ascended high priest. In Chronicles, 1-2 of 24 candidates were allowed to enter the Holy of Holies once a year. Having a lot to say about Melchizedek means that there are not so many people who can be raptured. The winner will be raptured. If you are not born again, you will not be able to rapture. The regenerate is not a state of mind, but the former body must be crucified with Jesus. Everyday I die cannot be won without fighting in the Word. In the church today, we already see a ritual of defeat.

In Hebrews 12:4-5, Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

If you do not win the war against greed on this earth, you will fall. If you don't win, you lose. Win? Lose? It is one of the two. In Revelation 3:5He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. We know what happens when we lose a fight.
In Hebrews 3:14, "For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
It is to hold the confidence of the beginning to the end. However, it is difficult to become like a child who eats milk or milk. If we do not solidify our faith on the basis of the Bible, we cannot become fighters. It's an incredible word, but relying on it and going out is fighting.

The salvation of Hebrews is to enter Canaan. The fight begins when you enter Canaan. The ten spies who said, "If you go in, you die," and the people who believed in their words and cried, all died in the wilderness. God says that when the people enter Canaan, they will give land, and the people will see the descendants of Anak in their eyes. This is the appearance of a spiritual child.

In Genesis 14:1-2And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations; That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

The land of Sinar was a country called Sumer. The place where Abraham left, Ur of the Chaldeans is the Sumerian. It was then that Nimrod built the Tower of Babel in the land of Sinar. A war broke out with the kings of the land of Sinar and with the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah, which will later become promised lands. This war is similar to the fight of the evil ones who fight to seize the world in the spiritual end. In this war, Abraham's nephew Lot was captured. In Genesis 14:14-16And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
